Johanna grew up in Sydney, the child of non musical parents. Her fondest memory of childhood was covering her ears at a young age and begging her mother not to sing the goodnight songs every night. Johanna's music is described as dark pop with a twist. Electro sounds and sweeping melodies, she enjoys bedtime at 8 pm, donuts and reality television a little too much
